How to Play Arkanoid

After the mothership Arkanoid is destroyed, the Vaus lifeboat slips away, but is then trapped in a space warp. To escape, you must control the Vaus like a paddle, using a ball to smash through 32 levels of multi-colored bricks. Lose the ball and you lose the Vaus, so be careful!

Also inhabiting each level are strangely shaped aliens, making their entrance up top and then gradually moving down the playfield. While they can't hurt the Vaus, they can send the ball off on new tangents, making it that much harder to control.

Certain bricks pose additional challenges. The silver ones will take multiple hits before they are destroyed, while the gold ones are completely indestructable. Gold bricks don't count toward finishing the level, but they are still quite a nuisance.

Power-ups are available in the form of capsules, periodically released when bricks are destroyed. A letter is printed on each capsule, telling you what power-up that capsule has to offer.

B - Break - Opens a portal to the next level.
C - Catch - Allows the Vaus to catch the ball.
D - Divide - Spilts the ball into three.
E - Expand - Makes the Vaus wider.
L - Lasers - Equips the Vaus with laser cannons.
P - Player - Awards an extra Vaus
S - Slow - Slows the ball down.

Certain capsules will remove any power-up the Vaus currently has, so sometimes letting a capsule fall away is the better way to play.

The 33rd and final level pits the Vaus against its captor, an energy being named DoH. Defeat DoH and you win the game!
