How to Play Asterix

The Roman Empire tried to take over the village of Asterix and Obelix... again... and failed miserably... again. Now, Asterix is helping himself to the spoils of the vanquished Roman soldiers, while Obelix goes looking for food... again. In this game, you help both Asterix and Obelix in their quests to collect as many items as they can. You must also help them avoid their only weakness, the lyres of village bard Cacofonix!

Asterix starts the game, moving across eight rows of Roman goodies and Cacofonix's lyres. When Asterix has collected fifty objects, a new type of object begins to appear, worth more than the last. After four different types of Roman souvineers, the game announces the "Obelix Wave." Now it is Obelix's turn to devour as much food as he can while also avoiding the lyres. Food items and lyres zip along much more quickly for Obelix, so you must be even more careful when helping him!

Roman cauldrons start the game. After fifty cauldrons, helmets then appear, followed by shields and lamps. At the start of the Obelix Wave, apples zip by, followed by fish. Two more edibles appear after fish. Then, for players who are especially good at helping Obelix satisfy his appetite, a special item will appear. Good luck!
