Despite it's reputation as an underpowered machine, the Commodore VIC-20 actually boasts some very impressive games in its library. Unfortunately, it also boasts some very weak ports of games from other systems, which is why it has that reputation. Choplifter is one of the weak ports. Thanks to clunky controls, oddly shaped and disproportionate graphics, and wildly inconsistent speed, this is quite possibly the worst way to experience Choplifter. This version does retain just enough charm of the original to keep from being a total loss, but only barely. Players will be much happier sticking with the original Apple II release or even a port for just about any other system.
