It's pinball! Just like on any other pinball table, the object is to keep the ball in play for as long as possible, using the flippers in a continual battle against gravity. Of course, also just like on ay other pinball table, the more you know the table, the faster you can rack up points. So take some time to observe the table as you play, to see what the different targets and shots are worth, and how they change the table's behavior. Read on for some additional hints.
What does a good pinball table have? Some combination of bumpers, roll-overs and stationary targets. Midnight Magic has them all. Three bumpers are in the middle of the table. Two stationary targets are on the sides, just above the top set of flippers. Two roll-overs are in the upper corners of the table. The bumpers are worth more when lit, and are worth the most when all three are lit. Hitting a stationary target lights the bumper closest to that target, while hitting either roll-over lights the top bumper.
The most important targets in Midnight Magic are the five drop targets at the top of the table. Drop all five targets, and a multiplier kicks in, increasing the value of everything on the table. You can earn up to a 5x multiplier, which stays in play until you lose your current ball.
Hitting a drop target with an arrow pointing to it is especially valuable. This immediately lights all three bumpers, and activates the return springs in the outlanes plus a paddle under the lower flippers, making it much easier for you to keep your ball. The spinner below the three bumpers will change which drop target the arrow points to.
Dropping all five targets also lights the corner roll-overs. When lit, either roll-over will score you an extra ball! Only one extra ball can be earned at a time, but you can try for another extra ball even if you're playing on a previously earned extra ball. Extra balls also preserves the score multiplier, giving further incentive to try for as many extra balls every turn as possible.
Midnight Magic gives you five balls in your quest to earn as many points as possible. There are no specials, no replays and no score matches at the end of the game, but why worry about that when the table is already on free play? Good luck!
