Atari 8-Bits - In Flight
During the 8-bit era, programmers sometimes took advantage of the way older
televisions were built to make certain graphics more colorful than the computer
had been designed to allow. Using a more expensive computer monitor back then
or an S-video connection today, the cockpit of Atari 8-bit Flight Simulator
II is all white, and finely detailed. On a conventional television with
only a composite connection, greens and purples appear. The extra color
actually makes some of the instruments easier to read, but at the same time
smaller details get smeared away.
