As good as Donkey Kong is on the NES and Famicom, Nintendo made some odd and unnecessary changes that left purists a little unhappy. Fortunately they did not repeat themselves with the port of Donkey Kong Junior. Every object on every screen in its proper place, and all four screens are presented in the right order. The game skimps just a little on the cinematics between screens, but there's still a lot to love here, particularly the smoothest animation of any port from the 8-bit era. In short, this is the best home version of Donkey Kong Junior there is, and it's more than good enough.
