Apple II Ikari Warriors Review

The Apple II's port of Ikari Warriors really isn't bad, but it's definitely lacking. As a one-player game, it gives the player everything the arcade game did, from tanks to shrapnel-spewing grenades, with all the power-ups in between. Two-player action is nonexistent, though that may be for the best given the Apple II's ability to support only one joystick. Also nonexistent is much of the enemy's arsenal, particularly tanks, which can make you wonder why all these empty tanks are lying around if the bad guys never use them.

Still, the game looks decent enough and plays competently, if slowly. The programmers even managed a scrolling playfield that doesn't interfere with gameplay. If you simply must have an Ikari fix, and the Apple II is your only hope of getting it, you'll be okay.
