Arcade Ikari Warriors Review

Ikari Warriors built on Commando's idea of a lone-warrior combat game, adding two-player action, upgradable weaponry, and a whole lot more enemies to deal with. Another feature, one that no home version of Ikari Warriors has been able to duplicate, is the ability to walk in one direction while firing in a different direction. Arcade Robotron 2084 and its various home ports allow for this by using two joysticks, but the multiple weapons of Ikari Warriors make this idea impractical. Instead, the arcade joystics can be twisted as well as aimed, effectively combining the functionality of two joysticks into one, and leaving the player's other hand in charge of the weapons' triggers. The extra control makes a good, fast-paced game even better.
