Atari 8-bit Track and Field Review

Atari's Track and Field for their own home computers actually isn't the best version of the game they released. That title belongs to the Commodore 64 port. The Atari 8-bit version is all right, but feels like it was a minimal effort. Graphics are decent, but the squashed athletes with big heads don't look very realistic. The musical cues that survived are okay, but many are missing. Animation is amusingly haphazard, with runners often temporarily losing their hair, or other body parts.

Fortunately the game has it where it counts, especially when using Atari's custom three-button controller with the game. Track and Field fans won't be disappointed, though they may stay a little jealous of their Commodore-owning friends.
