Originally released in 1984, Paperboy continued Atari Games' winning streak of hit arcade games. After enticing players with a unique set of controls in the shape of bicycle handlebars, Paperboy challenges them to complete a week's worth of paper deliveries along a suburban neighborhood street. Hazards litter the neighborhood, ranging from ordinary (fire hydrants, dogs, inattentive drivers) to bizarre (unicyclists, renegade lawn mowers, the Grim Reaper himself), but then some nice perks offer extra motivation, like getting bonus points for vandalizing nonsubscribers' houses.
Paperboy later came out for several home consoles and computers, and inspired two home sequels, giving players more chances to improve their paper throwing.
