As the neighborhood paperboy, your job is to deliver the Daily Sun to subscribers along a suburban street. Subscribers' houses are easy to spot with their bright colors and friendly doormats. Nonsubscrbers' homes are darker, and whole lot less friendly. A successful delivery to a subscriber requires throwing a paper onto the front porch, or for extra poitns, into the Sun paperbox.
People, pets and other obstacles populate the street. Sometimes they're just in the way, but other times they will actually try to chase you down. Don't let them hit you, or you will lose one of your lives! Some neighborhood residents can be taken out with a well-aimed paper, but other troublemakers, especially the vehicles, must be avoided at all costs!
A good paperboy knows how to advertise, and show off the benefits of being a subscriber. On this street in particular, it seems the nonsubscribers are always getting windows broken or flowers run over, while the subscribers typically enjoy a life free from vandalism. Higher scores can be earned by continually proving these points, but be careful not to damage any subscriber property, or they will cancel their subscription! But then, unsubscribers' houses are fair game for wayward papers just like nonsubscribers' houses, so really the question is, do you want to be a good paperboy or a bad paperboy? Just be careful not to lose all your subscribers, or you may get fired from your job!
After the day's deliveries are complete, it's time to prove your mettle on the training course. Hit the targets and navigate the jumps for extra points, while avoiding barricades and other hazards. Each day's training course is harder than the last, but a successful finish means cheers from the adoring crowd, and even more bonus points!
Finally, at the very end of the day, the daily report evaluates your job performance. A bonus is awarded for each happy customer, but any missed or damaged subscriber houses will mean a canceled subscription. Make a perfect delivery, however, and the bonuses are doubled, and you may even bring a former customer back into the fold!
The next day, it's time to hit the street again. Survive all seven days of the week, and you will have beaten the game and earned the respect of Sun readers everywhere!
