How to Play Kung Fu Master

Sylvia has been kidnapped, and is now held hostage in a mysterious temple. Fortunately, her boyfriend Thomas is an expert in kung fu, and he is more than ready to get her back! You must help Thomas fight his way across each of the temple's five floors, where a variety of bad guys wait to get in Thomas's way:

• Grippers will try to grab onto Thomas, draining his energy. One hit will send a Gripper flying, but if one reaches Thomas, he must shake the Gripper off before he loses too much life.
• Knife Throwers live up to their name, tossing blades high and low at Thomas. Two hits are needed to dispatch each Knife Thrower.
• Tom Toms, essentially miniature Grippers, first appear on the third floor. Tom Toms also can be disposed of with a single hit, but Thomas must first crouch down to deliver that hit. When he does, some Tom Toms will jump and try to hit Thomas in the head! Standing up again will defeat these flying Tom Toms.

The second and fourth floors of the temple have other obstacles as well. Confetti balls and clay pots are dropped from above on the second floor. Thomas must dodge or hit these obstacles, or suffer a massive loss of energy if he gets clonked. Clay pots that hit the ground will unleash snakes, which Thomas must jump. Some confetti balls drop to the ground to release a fire breathing dragon, while others hang in the air, waiting to explode and send deadly shards into any unlucky Kung Fu masters below. The fourth floor houses a hive of giant bees, which will buzz after Thomas to deliver a potentially lethal sting.

At the end of every floor, a boss awaits. Each boss has a unique talent to use against Thomas. Each boss also requires multiple hits to defeat, so don't let Thomas take too many punches.

Thomas's only weapons are his hands and feet, with which he can punch and kick, either while standing, crouching or jumping. Punches reward more points, and are more powerful against the bosses, but kicks have a longer reach. Jumping punches and kicks give the most points of all, but require expert timing to ensure Thomas doesn't jump right into the hands of an enemy!

Once Thomas has defeated the final boss, Sylvia is rescued. The happy ending doesn't last long, however, before Thomas is presented with a new challenge, and an even harder temple full of bad guys to fight!
