Imitations of Indiana Jones

Nowadays there are any number of games featuring treasure-hunting heros travelling across the globe, and it wouldn't be fair to claim they were all inspired by Indy. But there are one or two that stand out...

Pitfall! - Pitfall Harry sets off through the jungle in search of lost treasure, much like how a certain archeology expert did at the beginning of his first movie. While Henry doesn't have to deal with spiders and poison darts, there are plenty of scorpions, rattlesnakes and even bottomless pits to worry about. Imitation is flattery, and Pitfall Harry did quite well for himself, first on the Atari 2600 and later on other consoles and computers. Several sequels followed.

Tomb Raider - Give Indiana Jones the female treatment and you get Lara Croft, star of her own series of treasure-hunting video games. Lara struck the same gold as Pitfall Harry, becoming one of the most popular characters born in the PlayStation era.
