Ikari Warriors Geneology

1986 - Ikari Warriors - One player can go alone, or two players can team up in a jungle search-and-rescue mission that also happens to involve killing a lot of bad guys and blowing a lot of stuff up.

1986 - Victory Road - Switching from jungle warfare to something out of Starship Troopers, this game sees the warriors fighting aliens on another world, with a new arsenal of weaponry at their disposal. While the arcade game made no direct reference to the Ikari lineage, most home ports were named or at least subtitled Ikari Warriors II.

1989 - Ikari III: The Rescue - Returning to conventional, less alien warfare, this game again sends the warriors on a search-and-rescue. A boost in graphics, cinematics to drive the story, and a new hand-to-hand combat ability help make this entry unique.
